Intake Supervisor RN is a Registered Nurse who provides direct
management, oversight, and supervision of essential functions of
the Intake Coordinators and the department. Works in collaboration
with the patient care team, referral partners, and hospital/system
leaders both internal and external to the organization to ensure
smooth and appropriate transfers and admissions into the facility.
Ensures accuracy of information provided, acts as a point of
escalation and liaison for the Intake Coordinator LVN, ensures
quality patient care, and anticipates the needs for patients such
as education and placement to the proper care setting. Responsible
for all activities and communication involving transfers and
admissions into the facility. Works independently at high level, is
a self-starter, and can manage all aspects of the Center both
currently and future state. Conducts all duties in compliance with
the Joint Commission, State and Federal regulatory criteria.
Maintains knowledge of hospital policy and procedures. Provides a
safe environment for patients, visitors, and others. Maintains
confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and visitors.Job
Responsibilities/Duties
- Oversees and coordinates the daily operations for successfully
admitting and transferring a patient. Demonstrates advanced level
of clinical expertise, strong leadership, and collaborative skills
in dealing with staff and members of the healthcare team. -Acts as
a coach and positive role model for staff by establishing and
maintaining a safe work environment that fosters positive morale.
Coordinates, facilitates, or engages the patient intake process
using excellent customer service skills with all personnel
involved. Acts as a key point of contact for staff and all team
members in the patient admission process. Validates and audits the
admission process, ensures the appropriate level of care for
patients. Oversees coordination of bed availability and bed needs
across Alta Hospitals. Works with patient access to ensure a smooth
process for financial clearance and appropriate documentation and
approvals for revenue cycle management -
- Develops key relationships in the community to ensure smooth
and appropriate admissions and transfers. Understands services
provided across all Alta Hospitals. Works with marketing and
business development to evaluate the market to anticipate needs and
ensure appropriate access points for patients.
- Focuses on process improvement by maintaining knowledge of
process and procedures. Creates and modifies processes to ensure a
safe and smooth admission as needed. Initiates meetings with key
stakeholders to ensure appropriate care coordination. Attends key
meetings, reviews, and develops training materials, identifies, and
works to resolve system problems. Updates education based on
current best practices.
- Coordinates and creates data and reports for transparency,
engagement, and process improvement. Oversees the team tracking of
necessary data and ensures information is appropriate for
operations improvement. Updates tracking documents based on
operational needs and process evaluations.
- Maintains professionalism and ensures staff maintain a high
level of professionalism.
- Other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's Degree in
Nursing or related field (Health Administration, Business, Public
Health, or Management) preferred.Minimum Experience: At minimum of
one (1) year in a leadership role in a hospital environment
required. Five (5) years of Nursing experience in an acute care,
psychiatric or behavioral health work environment requited. Ability
to exercise professional judgment. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills in English. Strong time management skills and
ability to effectively prioritize tasks. Ability to multitask and
maintain a work pace appropriate to workload. Computer literacy and
proficiency. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate
to the job. Understanding of patient acuity and appropriate levels
of care. Five (5) years of progressive management experience in a
hospital environment preferred. Bilingual skills to communicate
effectively with patients and families preferred. Prior experience
working in a Transfer Center/Call Center; Admitting or Intake
environment preferred.Req. Certification/Licensure: Active,
current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the
State of California required. -AHA Basic Life Support required.
