Job Description:
Position Description Under general supervision, provide complex
technical support functions related to the installation,
customization, testing, and administration of the District’s
enterprise networks and infrastructure including LAN, WAN,
wireless, cloud, virtual, software-defined, data, voice,
audio/video and security systems, and associated systems, services,
and applications; assists in monitoring network performance and
responding to service requests to resolve platform and service
disruptions; implements and supports internetworking infrastructure
systems throughout the District. Responsibilities Assists in
planning, designing, and implementing the District’s enterprise
networks which support data, voice, video and other services and
applications for the District. Installs, configures, manages, and
troubleshoots enterprise routing and switching environment, virtual
private networking (VPN), and voice communication infrastructure
and systems, including LANs, WANs, Cloud networks, wireless
networks, SDN, VoIP, Internet, and security; cabling systems and
related tools, equipment, and services; based on set priorities,
designs, and standards. Provide network planning and technical
support for District installations of network and related
equipment, including servers, PCs, telephones, databases,
applications, and operating systems. Monitor and analyze network
performance utilizing established test plans, baselines, and a
variety of network tools to devise and implement solutions when
problems occur. Assist in establishing capacity and capability
plans and strategies for the network. Interface with service
providers and vendors for troubleshooting and resolving problems.
Provide network support for district’s information systems at main
campus and all remote locations. Identify and initiate resolutions
to client problems and concerns associated with network hardware
and software to the client’s satisfaction; includes customization
based on District requirements and District standards and
guidelines. Analyze, recommend, and develop training with
associated documentation to insure best utilization of equipment,
software, and tools. Provide input to management on network design
enhancements and procurement of network equipment, software,
licenses and supplies. Maintain network infrastructure and systems
inventory, provide upgrades, and ensure appropriate security levels
are maintained. Collaborates with network, systems, security, and
other information technology coworkers and peers on the development
and implementation of approaches, processes, procedures and
standards that promote responsiveness, efficiency, and
simplification of infrastructure. Composes and maintains up-to-date
documentation on network infrastructure including network diagrams
for sites and projects, and proper IP address management (IPAM).
Keep current on emerging/new technologies and industry standards,
and maintain current knowledge and expertise. Interacts with all
levels of the user community to discuss and resolve voice, data,
and network issues. Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of
providing work coverage and administrative notification during
periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education. Performs
related duties as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree and equivalent education, training, and experience
that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Minimum of three (3) years of enterprise network infrastructure
installation, maintenance, support, and management experience.
Demonstrated experience with enterprise network design,
engineering, and administration. Demonstrated ability to administer
network systems, protocols, and technologies such as: IPv4/IPv6,
TCP/IP, routing protocols, multicast, IPsec, SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP,
wireless, 802.1x, Layer 2/3 switching, cloud networking, SDN, data
center networking, 802.1q, Spanning-tree, ACLs, and others.
Knowledge of the administration of voice systems such as
traditional PBX, VoIP, SIP gateways, voice mail, and call
accounting. Knowledge of various modern enterprise security
concepts, technologies, and platforms such as traditional
firewalls, NGFWs, VPN, IDS/IPS, EDR, XDR, CASB, SASE, SIEM, and
others. Knowledge of cable plant design and management including
fiber and ethernet with the demonstrated ability to run, patch,
terminate, create cable, and implement rack and cable management
best practices. Knowledge of project management principles and
practices. Demonstrated ability to provide training, mentoring, and
coaching of professional and technical staff on matters related to
network operation. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain
effective and cooperative working relationships with a diverse pool
of administrators, technology staff, users, vendors, and team
members; actively contribute to a culture of constructive
collaboration and innovation with colleagues; effectively
communicate, both orally and in writing; maintain high levels of
customer service and satisfaction. Demonstrated evidence of
sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic,
socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual
orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college

QUALIFICATIONSTwo years of Information Technology experience in a
community college environment. Industry certifications such as
Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network, Security, Fortinet, Juniper, and
others. One year experience with firewall administration with
Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco or others. One year experience
with VoIP/SIP administration with Cisco Unified Communications
Manager (CUCM) or another vendor platform. One year experience with
administering a cloud or hybrid cloud network environment.
Additional Information SPECIAL CONDITIONS Working hours: Monday -
Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Hours may vary according to the
assignment. This position is overtime exempt and may necessitate
working varying schedules including evenings and weekends.

This is a full-time, 12-month, classified bargaining unit position.
Starting date: as soon as possible. Range 40 of the CSEA Salary
Schedule, with a starting salary of Step A, $8,660. Excellent
