Housing Specialist and Counselor
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is seeking
a qualified candidate to direct delivery of housing counseling
services and identifies applicants who are mortgage-ready or
qualified for mortgage relief assistance, or need post-purchase
counseling. This staff member will also establish and maintain
partnerships with Habitat LA's service community to strengthen
referral and resources database to extend and leverage assistance
beyond Habitat LA's services. The Homeownership Program Housing
Specialist and Counselor ensures that Homeownership Program
applicants are served in a manner that maintains the values,
standards, and reputation of the organization.Habitat for Humanity
of Greater Los Angeles has been an active affiliate of Habitat for
Humanity International for more than 20 years. By providing
affordable housing, home repairs, skilled construction training,
financial education, and volunteer opportunities the organization
has transformed millions of lives, helped stabilize communities and
fostered economic vitality in the region. On average, the affiliate
builds and renovates 100 homes in the Los Angeles region, ranking
it among the largest affiliates nationwide.Key
Responsibilities:Conduct group education on a variety of topics
relative to pre-purchase and non-delinquency post purchase.Conduct
one-on-one counseling sessions with delinquent homeowners to
evaluate available programs and opportunities available for
mortgage relief.Identify, develop, and maintain a quality of
network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source
of referrals.Verify the application is complete and
accurate.Performs an analysis of applicant's credit, employment,
income and assets as required by a particular program.Prepares a
loan approval summary, the 1008 and 1003 and ensures the accuracy
of all information.Assist as needed with other pre-underwriting
tasks Manage pipeline by reports within allotted turn-around
times.Maintain post-purchase education program for new home buyers
of post-purchase education requirementsAssist with securing
teachers for post-purchase (FIP) classesAdministration Duties as
required:Revise written material including marketing material,
PowerPoint presentations, program/event material and website
contentInform target communities of available program services
through outreach tables/events, orientations, and seminarsDeliver
program orientations and seminars and attend appropriate community
meetings/events to promote servicesIdentify and connect with
similar service providers and agencies to maintain a resource and
referral databaseRequirements:Previous housing/real estate industry
experience is preferred.One to three years of experience in
affordable housing and/or pre-purchase and post-purchase education
and counselingAttention to detail and accurate data input of client
data in client management system.Bilingual in Spanish is
preferred.All Habitat for Humanity employees must be fully
vaccinated against COVID-19. Please note that if selected for

position. Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm with some
evening and weekends. Position requires local travel in the normal
course of performing job duties with mileage reimbursement. Must
have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, valid
driver's license and meet the state required amount of personal
